WORSHIP

1 Chronicles 16:29 says: “Give to the Lord the glory due His name, Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”!  Ps 29:2 says: “Give unto the Lord the glory due His name; Worship the Lord in beauty and holiness.

The Lord wants to be #1 on a list of 1, not a list of 3,5,or 10 or what ever. He wants to be and commands to #1. The first commandment of the Ten Commandment: “You shall have no other gods before Me”. Pretty straight forward right? One would think so, but how many times have we created another god and made him or it first? I know you are saying to yourself, I’ m not worshiping anybody or anything else. Guys, you show off your new boat, golf clubs, that new car or the one you just rebuilt. Ladies, what are you religious about?> Hopefully not soap operas anymore. I’m quite sure it is not horoscopes or the psychics ( you already have got a one on one relationship with the One who created the stats. No need to ask a lowly human or any other created being). Look at what society has got us hooked on; TV, video games, the internet, how about the thing I’m typing on?  I’m not saying that all these things are bad but we should not put them ahead of our time with the Lord. That’s all. He comes first.

True worship has at least three important elements. We need to have reverence (a feeling of deep respect, “awe”). This must be directed at the Lord in thought and emotion. It is one thing to obey one of supernatural origin, but to commit out of love and respect is another. God is pleased when we worship Him. The Lord loves for you to worship when you are alone but He also wants you to worship Him in public either alone or with and amongst others. Joyfully. Ps 95:1 “Oh let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock or our salvation”. Ps 81:1 “Sing aloud to God our strength; Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob”. Remember when one shouts it is a noise and that is what the Lord wants. He is not concerned on whether you sing on key in church or in the shower. He just wants you to praise and worship Him. Remember 1 Chr 16:29; Simply put God commands us to worship Him.

Look at the first few commandments and you will quickly see that God  wants us to worship Him, the only true God. Yes, there are three of Them. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That is quite a package. Three in one always there, always listening and always loving even before the foundations of the earth, God loved us. So much that God the Son lowered Himself to be born of a woman. Raised like a carpenter’s son. Then when He became thirty years old, He was baptized by His cousin in the river Jordon and when Jesus came out of the water the heavens opened up and God,  the Father said: “This is My beloved Son, whom I am well pleased”. For three and half years, Jesus ministered to the people, Jews and Gentiles alike. Then those whom were in charge of the area charged Him with false statements and false trials that broke many of their own laws.

He was then found guilty of these same false statements (He never uttered a word in His own defense). They then scourged Him (a beating that man can not truly describe but to say that there was very little of Him that was not tortured beyond measure is an understatement). When the scourging was over He was  lead to Calvary, then He was nailed to a wooden cross to die a very agonizing death. Or so they thought. Once Jesus was on the cross He shocked the world from that day and forever by not only saying “ Father, forgive them,  for they do not know what they do”.  Then His last statement He called out to His Father saying “Father,’into Your hands I commit My spirit”. Having said this He breathed His last.

Now Jesus  is standing at the right hand of the Father in heaven saying intercessory prayers for you and I. What are the only man-made things in heaven? SCARS! The ones we put there. Yes, by not putting up a defense for Himself, even though He was innocent on all counts, He accepted OUR SINS and He paid the price, the ultimate price.  He became Man and died on our behalf. But the ultimate sacrifice is that He will carry the scars forever. If that is not Love, I have no idea what is and I don’t think I ever will.

Interesting. I never thought that man-made things can be in heaven. Yes, scars. They were there to be a prove that salvation has been done. We only need to accept Jesus as our savior.

Thank you for this interesting article!
