John Chapter 1

1)  Looking at the first three verse, how do they compare to Genesis verse one?

2)  Why does the darkness not comprehend the light?

3)   In verse 4 it says that life was the light of men. What is it now?

4)   Compare yourself to John the Baptist?

5)   Is it significant that John the Baptist and Jesus were cousins but yet John did not know   whom his cousin was?

6)   Why did it not bother John that his two closest disciples left him and went with Jesus?

7)   What is so special about John?

8)   According to this chapter what statement is made twice and why?

9)   Today there is petty politics, greed, self-glorification and jealously when and how the word of God is spread. Was it the same when Jesus came?

10)   What was the key that started Christianity?

  1. It’s interesting to read this in the context of your site, and to take each question on it’s own to give it careful thought and consideration. I found myself lingering on number 9. Choosing kindness, love, contribution and compassion in the face of these other things is always a better choice.

    Wishing you healing & happiness

  2. I agree with Kevin on question 9. All of this was very much in evidence when Jesus was on earth. They even tried to make him king but he had to Dunn away from them to avoid it. He definitely did not glorify himself but always gave glory to his heavenly father. Do you know why he didn’t want to become King at that time?

    1. Jesus said many times that His time had not come. In Matt 5:17 Jesus says, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” This is important because in Daniel 9:25 it states “Know therefor and understand that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince; There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built, and the wall , even in troublesome times.”
In Neh 2:5-8, the decree was given to rebuild the wall and from that date until the triumphal entry exactly fulfilled that prophecy. And if you notice He was to be the Messiah the Prince, not King. This is because He sits on His Father’s throne.
